Here’s a quick tip for you! It might not change your life, but will make life easier when adding new featured and special products. It’s always annoyed me that the box where you select the product to feature or add as a special is so small. 5 lines to be precise. So I set about making that box show more lines, therefore making it easier to see the products.

Here’s how to change it:

  1. Make a copy of <YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER>/featured.php in case it all goes wrong.
  2. Open <YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER>/featured.php
  3. Search for   size=”5″   (it’s around line 267)
  4. Change the number 5 to the number of lines you would like. I put 15.
  5. Save and upload.
  6. Go to your admin pages and load up the featured products page and click new product.
  7. Do the same for <YOUR_ADMIN_FOLDER>/specials.php. (size=”5″ is around line 316)

As it’s Christmas(ish) here’s an addition tip. Just to the right of where you change the size=”5″ is style=”font-size:10px”. Change that 10 to 12 and you’ll find it much easier to read the product names in the selection box.

So that’s it. It’s not a tip that will set the Zen world alight, but as a well known supermarket keeps telling us; every little helps!
